Is buying a refurbished Dell computer off of ebay WITH 1 year warranty stupid?

All of the new ones come w/1 year warranty, too. What is your experience w/ refurbished models?

There is a piece of advice I want to give you, since you appear to be concerned about warranty...

Refurbished or not... for God's sake MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER! Or that the previous owner transfers the ownership to your name.

If the warranty you mention is from DELL, we are liable to deny warranty service to you if you ever need it... If you can't verify the previous owner information. So simple.

This does not happen when someone purchases the computer directly from Dell, since the owner can say who did the purchase, in the event that someone else purchased it on his/her stead.

If you have a warranty (or service contract, to be more accurate) with Dell. you can extend it up to 4-5 years.

And... there are service contracts that cover labor too. So far I have not seen a single PC (wether desktop or laptop) that have a Parts-only contract. I don't know if the refurbished have a different contract, and never heard of it.
