Do I really need my boot on my Inboard Outboard motor guessing exhaust boot, it extends when the tilt and trim
I am wondering what does it do. It goes from the lower unit to back of boat and when tilt is up it stretches and has broke in half. The other boots look fine and I'm wondering what will happen if water gets in their and how do I change it. It looks as if I cant get to the clamps.
I assume you have a Mercruiser, as it is the only one that has an exhaust bellows. If it is Merc, the lower bellows is about 2 1/2" in diameter and is not necessary. The newer units actually have the bellows attached only on the gimbal end, which allows exhaust gasses to release easier at higher rpm and trim.
