I was wondering waht were nice beach towns to live in North Carolina??
My husband and I are a young couple looking for a place to move in North Carolina. Right now my husband is in the army and i am a nursing student. We are originally from a small beach town 20 Min's south of Cape Cod, and we are looking for a quaint little beach town to start a family in. My husband is planning on being a firefighter and i am going to be a RN. I any body knows of places in NC that sounds good for us we would really love to hear about it! Thank you!
I don't know where to tell you specifically to move but I would suggest you look at the job market there. Hub might have a good chance but just becoming a firefighter is a process. I don't know how they work things there but here on Cape they have to be a Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic. If you move to a small town they may require that too. That's alot of schooling for him unless he challenges the test if that is possible. Do you have family there? If you are going to start a family and both of you have the jobs you desire what are the hours? Is hub going to be gone for 24 hour shifts? Are you going to hire a sitter? If you are going to become a RN - where are the hospitals? You don't want to spend your life on the road.
I moved 350 miles away from my family - and while I do think it's somewhat of a benefit to my kids and our life, it's extremely hard to be so far away from family especially with kids. With both of your potential crazy hours the stress could take the joy out the surroundings you work so hard to acquire. Alot of considerations...
