how high should I mount the motor and shoulld I use the stock propeller?
Ok, this is a rigging question, and remember, these types of boats can take up to a 50 horsepower engine, so here is where to start.
1. mount the engine so that the water intake is in the water. Remember, the outboard has to get water to the engine to cool it. Otherwise, mount the engine so that it is as far out of the water as possible. Also remember, you have a cat, semi-inflatable- it is not going to 'dig into ' the water like a mono hull will.
2. Use the stock prop, see where this puts you, be prepared to change if it is needed. Many of these hondas are propped for a much heavier boat, and you may need a higher pitched prop for this light a boat.
I assume you have the steering and controls worked out, just remember if you have a lot of cavitation when you turn, you may need to lower the engine, also, so try to rig your Motor Mount so that you can change it easily. Sounds like fun, good luck.
