Mercruiser upgrade Help.?
I want to upgrade my Pre alpha outdrive with a later model Alpha or bravo out drive, can some one please tell me every thing I woild need to do this,? What would be the best outdrive? the V 8 engine is out and the transom is new,
A few different factors to consider. Number one, engine size. If you have a low horsepower engine (under about 350) there is no reason to spend the additional money on a Bravo. The gen ll is a great drive, and you can find new replacement units for under $1500.00 Your old Gimbal will support a gen l or an old Alpha, but upgrading isn't really necessary. If you have a higher horsepower engine, you will probably want the Bravo. Best bet: Give me a call tomorrow at work, and I can aim you in the right direction, I do this for a living.
