Long Shaft
Is there a difference in length between the drive shafts of a Yamaha 20hp long shaft and others?IE. 25hp 40hp?
It's an outboard motor that i'm trying to fix.Thanxs
I had placed an order for a replacement drive shaft and was sent a drive shaft that is 1" to 1.5" too long.I gave all the proper info,( model#, serial# etc.) and was told that that is the drive shaft for it. But it still doesn't fit. By The Way...I bought the outboard new. -thanx
Bit more info required - did you compare the two shafts side by side before fitting?
An inch and a half is about the length of spline that enters the engine and you may need to turn the prop shaft in order to get it to line up before it will slide in.
