have a electric probleim on my outboard?
my mercury outboard 50hp 1989 wont start the starter is working has new selinoid power is going to selnoid but just starts clicking wont turn over what could it be
you said "starter is working", did you test it by connecting it directly to the battery with a jumper cable, and it started the motor no problem? If so that rules out both the battery and the starter.
And you've measured 12V+ at the solenoid input? That rules out wiring fault/corrosion from battery to keyswitch to solenoid.
And you've polished the solenoid-to-starter connections until they shine?
Sounds like you've ruled out everything except faulty solenoid.
