1990 bayliner capri 18 footer..any good?
i recently bought a 1990 18 foot bayliner capri open bow...with a force 90hp engine...i havent started it yet but i was wondering if this boat is a decent boat for a first timer....i like to do ocean fishing and some lake fishing/? is this boat good for the ocean?? i live in southern california.. does it have enough power?? how does it ride/? i'm looking for an overall review of this boat..i've heard bayliners arent that great? i'm a begineer, but did i just make a rookie mistake?? thankss
This is about a 20 year old boat......The only concern is the motor..... First you mix TCW3 oil with the fuel. Drain and replace any in the tanks. Second find a good outboard mechanic and let him help you get the engine running again......This it sometimes tricky....so let a professional help. Change the water pump in he lower unit...... Now if you do all of this, you should have plenty of power, but only venture out with good weather in the ocean...... You'll find this is about a 35 mph boat with a reasonable ride, better than some.....You need to lube the steering cable and spray everything with WD 40. take care of the trailer wheel lube. I'll bet you will do fine! Good Luck!
